Clay manages the auction barn Since 1991, family-owned and operated Cattlemen's Livestock Commission is one of the most long-established businesses in the area. As one of the area's leading livestock auction houses, Cattlemen's attracts customers usually within a 100- office. Janna and her husband Kevin manage the mile radius, from Lamar County to the rest of Texas and to Oklahoma, Arkansas, and even Kansas. Cattlemen's, originally opened in the 1950's by the Long family and later bought by the Mallicote family, takes pride in sorting customers cattle and selling them in matched groups, giving cattle sellers an extra premium, Cattlemen's offers sellers several ways to market their cattle and also conducts sales of weaned and pre-conditioned cattle several times a year, and holds a cattle and goat auction every Saturday at 1l a.m. family cattle operation, and their two daughters, Tuylor and Payton, are intensely inmvolved in show- ing hogs and steers. Three of their sons, Matt and wife Kristen with daughters Maesyn, Kemper, and Briar: Weston and Neeley and sons Ryke, Rance, Rhett and daughter Renni; Jordan and Shelby and son Creed and daughter Macelyn, all handle the farming operation. Their sons also own & manage "Mallicote Farms Water Fowl" offering guided duck hunts and operate "Mallicote Farm Land Clearing & Dirt Work" Cattlemen's is home to the All Breed Bull Sale in the fall and Charles is proud of the quality of cattle that have been produced out of these bulls. "Our barn has a great selection of some of the best replacement and feder cattle in the ares." We have some great cattlemen in the area and Charles stays in contact with them to help them get top dollar for their cattle.
