The mission of the Paris-Lamar County Health District is to provide the best possible opportunity for good health to the citizens of Lamar County through health promotion and the prevention of disease. Public health services for the City of Paris and Lamar County are provided by this department. Funding is derived from the City of Paris and Lamar County as well as through grants from the Texas Department of State Health Services. As a public health department most services are primarily preventive medical treatment. Services provided include pre-natal care, family planning, immunizations, care of non-emergency medical problems, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, Women, Infant and Children (WIC) nutrition program and sanitary inspections. The staff includes a medical director, nurse practitioner, nurses, and clerical staff capable of delivering care, answering patient questions, and maintaining office service. In the event of an emergency, patients are referred to Paris Regional Medical Center emergency room.
